Wardrobe styling is one of the most important elements to your session

The perfect session starts with curating the perfect wardrobe. It allows us to create images without distracting clothing so that we can focus on the reason you're here for a session- to document your connection. It also helps creative emotive images by having clothing pieces that move with you and flow with your movement. I know that wardrobe is typically one of the biggest stressors for families when thinking about booking a session with a photographer. I totally understand, dressing your family on a normal day while trying to wrangle little ones is stressful, so having the pressure of dressing on a day that's going to be documented can seem overwhelming.

That's why my goal is to make this a stress-free process. We start with a pre-session consultation where we'll discuss your goals for the session and wardrobe choices. All clients also have exclusive access to my client closet items which include women's, maternity and children's clothing. These are items that I already know photograph well together and fit a wide range of sizes. And if nothing from the client closet speaks to you, no worries! I've also got curated Amazon lists for mens, women's, maternity, boys, girls, and newborns.

Find pieces that flow

The best advice is to find pieces that have movement and flow with the wind while you're running or twirl in the air when your little ones play ring around the rosie. Clothing pieces that are skin tight tend to be stiff and uncomfortable and that shows in photographs.

Avoid matching too well

I know this sounds odd, but you don't want to all match too well. That will cause you to all morph into each other and won't show any definition between subjects. Ideally you will all wear complimentary pieces. I will send out personalized color palettes to stick to with colors that work well together to simplify this process as well!

Textures and patterns

We want to avoid any distracting patterns or logos when selecting wardrobe. I know little ones love their characters, but try to convince them to save that favorite shirt for another day and we can incorporate them another way in to our shoot (maybe pretending to be Batman or playing Coco-melon songs!). I love adding a subtle pattern or textured item like a chunky sweater or blanket.
